Christopher Williams

Kölnische Dramaturgie focuses on Kochgeschirr Adapted for Use, Christopher Williams’ 2019 presentation at Frieze New York, which restaged his 2017 theater production Stage Play. The elements of this restaging included five new photographs, which are themselves adaptations and restagings of themes and imagery that the artist has previously explored; two silkscreen posters; a modular wall; and furniture designed by Franz West and Hans Accola. The presentation repurposed the booth as a stage set, photographs as playscripts, and the gallery’s sales team as a theater troupe. This book, designed by Petra Hollen- bach, includes documentation of this project and a newly com- missioned essay by Tom McDonough.
