When you watch the news these days, laughter may be the furthest thing from your mind. But humour can be crucial, especially in tough times. Jokes can help overcome inhibitions, deal with discomfort, provide perspective and facilitate coping. In the group exhibition It’s Not A Joke, running from 5 April to 14 September 2025, we present contemporary art that uses humour to expose social, societal and political issues. Participating artists include Sarah Lucas (UK, 1962), Ghita Skali (MA, 1992), Willem de Haan (NL, 1996) and Ryan Gander (UK, 1976).
