25 for 2025: Opening 11 January, 6 – 8 pm

Capitain Petzel is pleased to announce 25 for 2025, an exhibition of selected works by artists of the gallery program, intended as a nod to our artists’ activities this year.

 

With works by Yael Bartana, Karla Black, Ross Bleckner, Barbara Bloom, Monica Bonvicini, Isabella Ducrot, Thomas Eggerer, Anna Gaskell, Sanya Kantarovsky, Sean Landers, Zoe Leonard, Robert Longo, Alexandra Metcalf, Matt Mullican, Tobias Pils, Stephen Prina, Amy Sillman, John Stezaker, Mikołaj Sobczak, Monika Sosnowska, and Leyla Yenirce.

 

The exhibition will open alongside Jack O’Brien’s Cascade on 11 January, 6 – 8 pm

Oh, Clock! – a retrospective exhibition of works by Amy Sillman is currently on view at Kunstmuseum Bern, travelling to Ludwig Forum, Aachen later in 2025. 

The first presentation of Zoe Leonard’s series Al río / To the River in the Americas is on view at the Chinati Foundation, Marfa, Texas, through June 2025.

A comprehensive survey exhibition on the work of Robert Longo is on view at the ALBERTINA Museum, Vienna, through January 26, 2025.

In 2025, Monica Bonvicini will be participating in group exhibitions at Centre Pompidou, Paris; Marta Herford Museum and Kunst Museum Winterthur, among others. In May, the artist will open her first solo exhibition with Capitain Petzel as part of Gallery Weekend Berlin 2025.

Mikołaj Sobczak will present a solo exhibition at Salzburger Kunstverein, Austria, in 2025.

In 2025, Karla Black will hold solo exhibitions at Galerie Gisela Capitain, Cologne, and Kunstraum Dornbirn, Austria. The artist will also participate in a group exhibition titled Color Everywhere - Farbe Überall,  on view at the Josef Albers Museum Quadrat Bottrop, Germany.

Monika Sosnowska will be part of the PURPLE PATH sculpture park in Chemnitz (Germany), European Capital of Culture 2025.

The Museo delle Civiltà in Rome is currently showing Weaving is human. Isabella Ducrot… and the textile collections of the Museum of Civilizations, dedicated to the artist’s practice. A solo exhibition of new works by Isabella Ducrot will open at Petzel Gallery, New York, in June 2025.

A solo exhibition by Tobias Pils will open at mumok, Museum moderner Kunst Stiftung Ludwig, Vienna, in September 2025.

Thomas Eggerer’s collages highlight his appreciation for the “breathtaking treasures” visual archives hold, from intimate locker room moments to sunbathers in sports arenas. The works transform these ordinary scenes into complex compositions that resist immediate consumption. They often feature a “stuttering” effect, as described by David Joselit, where similar actions or groups appear from different angles or moments in time, creating a cinematic layering that compresses successive images into a single, simultaneous visual experience.

In 2025, Matt Mullican will present an innovative solo exhibition at a new museum in the metaverse, connected to the Ringier Collection. Spanning over 2,000 square meters of virtual space, this survey showcases over 50 years of Mullican's work, featuring more than a thousand artworks, including video installations.

Yael Bartana's work Ascending (2023) is part of the group exhibition Messengers From Above, currently on view at ERES Foundation, Munich, through May 11, 2025.

A solo exhibition of new works by Sean Landers will open at our partner gallery, Petzel, New York, in April 2025.
