'Handle' is based on mass-produced aluminium handles from the communist era. All the people in similar blockhouses, similar flats with similar furniture had the same handle. Monika Sosnowska made this handle unique by imprinting her hand on it. The artist recalls that when she returned to Warsaw from a stay in Amsterdam in 2000, the aluminium handles were still available in small metal shops. Now they are all gone, replaced by thousands of models instead.
