Works on paper are a continuous complement to Lassnig's vibrant oil paintings, using an immediate and impulsive method to externalize her inner thoughts. This expression of the subjective interior is at the heart of Lassnig's practice; indeed, she coined the term "body-feeling painting“. Colors, too, are associated with a particular emotional world - the artist, trained in the theory of Expressionism, speaks of "pain and agony colors," of "nerve cord and cancer anxiety colors."
