'If we understand thresholds as passages between territories, categories, and realities, then this is what my works always dealt with. Perhaps my central work in the pavilion, 'Light to the Nations', can be understood as a means to overcome the final, earthly threshold.'
- Yael Bartana
Life in the Generation Ship is a 360-degree 3D rendering video installation, projected onto a dome. The dome visualizes five out of the ten Sefirot-based spheres of the ship: Bridge, Heritage, Agriculture, Public Space, and Recycling. The immersive installation amalgamates reality and fiction, allowing visitors to behold life on the futuristic spaceship. Part of Bartana’s method of pre-enactment, the spheres depict- ed within the installation—each representing a different aspect of the spaceship's functioning society—are designed to invite reflection on both historical and futuristic narratives. The dome itself is not merely a projection surface but a deliberate architectural choice that brings to mind the symbolic significance of domes in places of worship.
